i urge you to read about the ssi issues in the country. thousands of lower income households have been abusing this money set aside for disability to use in replace of welfare. it has mostly been used in households with children, and using diagnoses like ADD as an excuse for disability. i feel mixed about this issue. of course, it’s obvious that the ssi system is flawed if so many are getting away with abusing the system. however the kids that have been benefitting didn’t ask to be born to parents that cannot support them. how can the country get them the money they deserve without giving their parents an excuse not to work? it’s very sticky… and there probably is no solution that will please everyone.
i find this so cool. i think i would completely fail trying to use this thing. but i give her major credit for making such an epic marker.

i thought about this a lot this semester in my inequality class. i hate to bring up the depressing, but i also feel like native american rights are severely overlooked. it’s sometimes necessary to take the time to think about how hundreds of thousands of native americans died, and that they really should make up more than 2% of the population. i mean think about it…native americans? is that how little of our natives are left?
i highly recommend listening to bon iver on pandora. wonderful things and wonderful people emerge from it.
My song of the week, from the new vampire weekend album. fun sunny day music, i recommend seeking out the cd or the album in some sort of music-locating device. yayyyy.
I highly suggest following Conan’s twitter. Tis quite the laugh. I hate Jay Leno. Conan=Awesome. He’s also from Brookline!
